IV therapy in Benicia, CA

IV therapy at Benicia Medical Aesthetics delivers fluids, electrolytes and vitamins straight into your bloodstream through a drip that takes 30 to 60 minutes. Janeeh Miranda, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified nurse practitioner, screens your health first and chooses the drip. The effect is a short-term top-up, so patients who like it come back when they need it.

What IV therapy can do, and where the evidence stops

An IV drip puts fluid, electrolytes and vitamins directly into a vein. Nothing has to pass through your stomach first, so the full amount reaches your bloodstream during the session. That's the one thing a drip does that a glass of water and a multivitamin can't.

Patients book IV therapy when they feel depleted: after a hot day outdoors, a long flight, a hard week of training or a stretch of too little sleep. The fluids are the part you're most likely to feel. Many people say they feel refreshed by the end of the drip.

We'd rather be straight with you about the rest. If you already eat a balanced diet, your body has the vitamins it needs, and extra water-soluble vitamins from a drip mostly leave in your urine. Research doesn't back IV vitamins for boosting your immune system, raising your energy long term or slowing skin aging, and we won't tell you otherwise.

Who IV therapy suits

IV therapy tends to suit you if:

  • You're a healthy adult heading into, or coming out of, a demanding stretch
  • You find it hard to drink enough water on busy days
  • You're comfortable with a needle in your arm for up to an hour
  • You want a nurse practitioner to screen you and choose the drip, rather than picking from a menu yourself

Your IV therapy appointment, step by step

  1. Health screening

Janeeh reviews your health history, current medications and why you want a drip.

  2. Choosing your drip

She recommends the drip that fits what you told her, or tells you a drip isn't worth it for you.

  3. The drip

A small IV line goes into a vein in your arm. You sit back for 30 to 60 minutes while it runs. Bring a book or your phone.

  4. Afterward

The line comes out, a small bandage goes on, and you head back to your day. Press on the spot for a minute to keep bruising down.

IV therapy questions

How long does IV therapy take in Benicia?

IV therapy at Benicia Medical Aesthetics takes 30 to 60 minutes once the line is in, depending on the drip. Plan on a few extra minutes for your health check before the drip starts. You sit in a treatment chair the whole time and can read, work on your phone or rest.

Is IV therapy safe?

IV therapy is low risk for most healthy adults when a medical provider screens you first. The common side effects are a bruise or soreness where the needle went in. IV therapy is not a good fit for people with heart disease or kidney problems, which is why every drip starts with your health history.

Does IV therapy boost your immune system?

There's little research showing that IV therapy boosts the immune system in healthy people. If you already eat a balanced diet, you likely get the vitamins your body can use, and extra water-soluble vitamins leave in your urine. IV therapy is best thought of as hydration and a vitamin top-up.

How much does IV therapy cost at Benicia Medical Aesthetics?

The cost of IV therapy at Benicia Medical Aesthetics depends on which drip you choose and what goes into it, and you get the total before the drip starts. Wellness members pay $50 a month and get 30% off IV drips, plus one B12 shot every month and 30% off all B12 shots.

What is the difference between IV therapy and NAD+ therapy?

IV therapy delivers fluids, electrolytes and vitamins in 30 to 60 minutes. NAD+ therapy is a separate, slower IV infusion of NAD+, a coenzyme your cells use to make energy, and it takes 1 to 2 hours. The research behind NAD+ infusions is still early, which the NAD+ therapy page covers.
