Exosome facial · Benicia, CA

Exosome facial in Benicia, CA

An exosome facial at our Benicia studio pairs microneedling with a topical exosome product, applied to your skin right after the needles, as the finishing step. We use exosomes on the skin's surface only and never inject them. A nurse practitioner plans each facial. Results come mainly from microneedling's collagen response and build over weeks.

What an exosome facial involves

Exosomes are tiny particles that cells release to pass signals to one another. Skincare companies now put them into serums and apply them after procedures like microneedling, when the skin's surface is freshly opened and products reach further than they do on intact skin.

At our studio, an exosome facial is a microneedling treatment with an exosome product applied as the last step. The microneedling does the heavy lifting: it prompts your skin to build new collagen over the following weeks, which is how fine lines and texture improve.

What the research does and does not show

The FDA has said plainly that there are currently no FDA-approved exosome products. That applies to every clinic, including ours. Research on exosomes in skin care is early, and nobody can yet tell you with confidence how much a topical exosome product adds to microneedling on its own.

So here is how we use it. We offer exosomes as a topical finishing step for patients who want it, after Janeeh has explained exactly that. We do not inject exosomes, we do not use them to treat any medical condition, and we will not tell you they repair or reverse anything. If you would rather put your budget into a treatment with a longer track record, Janeeh will point you to one.

Who an exosome facial suits

An exosome facial tends to suit you if:

  • You are already a good candidate for microneedling, with fine lines, dullness or uneven texture
  • You have read about exosomes and want them as part of your facial, knowing the evidence is early
  • You want a gradual change

Your exosome facial, step by step

  1. Consultation

Janeeh looks at your skin and explains what microneedling will do and what the evidence on exosomes does and does not show. You decide with the full picture.

  2. Microneedling

Numbing cream goes on first. Your provider then treats each area with the microneedling device.

  3. Exosome step

The exosome product is applied to the treated skin and left to absorb.

  4. Aftercare and follow-up

    Expect pink, tight skin.

Exosome facial questions

What is an exosome facial?

An exosome facial is a microneedling treatment finished with a topical exosome product applied to the freshly treated skin. At Benicia Medical Aesthetics, exosomes are used on the skin's surface only and are never injected. The microneedling prompts new collagen, which is where most of the visible change in fine lines and texture comes from.

Are exosomes FDA approved?

No exosome product is FDA approved. The FDA stated in a 2020 consumer alert that there are currently no FDA-approved exosome products, and that applies to every clinic. At Benicia Medical Aesthetics, exosomes are used only as a topical step after microneedling, with no claim that they treat any medical condition.

Do you inject exosomes?

No, Benicia Medical Aesthetics never injects exosomes. The exosome product is applied only to the skin's surface after microneedling, as the final step of a facial. The FDA has warned about unapproved exosome products, and Janeeh reviews your health history before any treatment. Expect the usual effects of microneedling: redness and tightness.

How is an exosome facial different from microneedling with PRP?

An exosome facial and microneedling with PRP both start with microneedling and differ in the finishing step. PRP uses plasma from your own blood, drawn at the same visit. An exosome facial uses a manufactured topical product instead, so no blood draw is needed. Janeeh can help you choose between the two.

Can exosomes treat hair loss?

Benicia Medical Aesthetics does not offer exosomes for hair loss, and no exosome product is FDA approved to treat it. For thinning hair, the practice offers hair restoration with PRP, which uses plasma from your own blood. A consultation settles whether you are a candidate or whether a doctor should look at the cause first.
