What to look for in before and after photos
Before and after photos are the most useful evidence you'll find online, and also the easiest to get wrong. A few things to check on any med spa's gallery, including ours:
- Lighting and angle. Brighter light and a slight head tilt can erase lines on their own. The two photos should match.
- Timing. Botox and similar treatments take several days to show their full effect, while collagen treatments like CO2 laser, XERF and Radiesse keep improving for months. An “after” taken too early undersells them. One taken at the peak can oversell how long it lasts.
- Makeup and expression. For wrinkle treatments, the “after” should show the same expression as the “before.”
- Whether it's someone like you. Skin type, age and the starting point matter. Ask at your consultation to see results on skin like yours.
Results vary from person to person. Your consultation is where you'll hear what's realistic for your skin.
