What LaseMD Ultra does for your skin
LaseMD Ultra is a 1927 nm thulium laser. It makes thousands of tiny treatment points in the top layer of your skin, where sun damage and brown pigment sit, and leaves the skin between those points untouched. That untouched skin is why healing is quick. The pigment works its way up and flakes off over the following days, and tone looks more even as it goes. The same tiny channels let a serum soak in deeper than it would on its own.
LaseMD Ultra is used for:
- Sun spots, age spots and freckles
- Uneven tone and blotchy sun damage
- Dull skin that has lost its glow
- Mild texture and fine lines near the surface
How much downtime does LaseMD Ultra really have?
Close to none, and we would rather you plan for the real version. Most patients go straight back to work. Your skin is pink that day, then feels dry and a little rough, a bit like fine sandpaper, as the treated pigment flakes away. The manufacturer puts full healing at 5 to 7 days.
Which laser is right for you?
LaseMD Ultra is for pigment, tone and glow with the least time off. For deep scars and wrinkles, CO2 laser resurfacing goes furthest and erbium laser resurfacing comes next. A mini laser peel works more on texture, with a day or two of recovery. For redness and broken capillaries, an IPL photofacial is the better match. The laser treatments page compares them side by side.
Who LaseMD Ultra suits
LaseMD Ultra suits you if:
-
- Sun spots, freckles or blotchy tone are your main concern
- Your skin looks tired and you want it brighter before an event, with time to heal first
- You can't take a week off for a deeper laser
- You want a regular laser treatment to keep skin even between bigger ones
-
The manufacturer says the laser can treat all skin types, all year. Janeeh still adjusts the plan for deeper skin tones, which can hold on to pigment after any heat-based treatment.

Is there a laser treatment with no downtime?
Close to it. LaseMD Ultra is the laser to book when you can't take time off. You go back to your day the same day, but expect a few days of redness, dryness or light flaking, and the manufacturer puts full healing at 5 to 7 days. Every laser needs some recovery, so plan events a week out.
What does LaseMD Ultra treat?
LaseMD Ultra treats sun spots, age spots, freckles, uneven tone and dull skin. The laser works in the top layer of skin, where sun damage and brown pigment sit, and it also improves mild surface texture. Deep acne scars, deep wrinkles and loose skin need a deeper laser or a tightening treatment instead.
Can LaseMD Ultra be used on darker skin?
LaseMD Ultra can treat all skin types, according to its manufacturer, and it can be used all year. Deeper skin tones can still hold on to pigment after any heat-based treatment, so Janeeh adjusts the settings and the pace for your skin. That conversation happens at the consultation, before any laser touches your face.
What is the difference between LaseMD Ultra and CO2 laser resurfacing?
LaseMD Ultra and CO2 lasers sit at opposite ends of the laser range. LaseMD Ultra leaves the skin surface intact, treats pigment and tone, and lets you go back to your day. CO2 removes the outer layers of skin to treat deep wrinkles and scars, and needs 5 to 7 days of recovery.
