Erbium laser resurfacing in Benicia, CA

Erbium laser resurfacing removes the outer layers of skin to smooth fine to moderate lines, acne scars, sun damage and uneven texture. At our Benicia studio, Janeeh Miranda, MSN, FNP-C plans every treatment. It heals faster than CO2, with a few days of tenderness and then peeling, and results keep improving as new skin and collagen form.

What erbium laser resurfacing does

An erbium laser removes a thin, precise layer of skin at a time. Your body replaces it with a fresh surface and builds new collagen underneath, so skin comes back smoother, tighter and more even.

What sets erbium apart is how little heat spreads into the skin around each pass. Less heat means less redness and a faster heal than CO2, with fewer side effects. The trade is depth. CO2 still does more for deep wrinkles and heavy scarring, and erbium is the better fit for fine to moderate concerns.

Erbium laser resurfacing is used for:

  • Fine and moderately deep lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars and blemish marks
  • Sun damage and uneven pigment
  • Rough or uneven texture

We treat the face, neck, chest and hands.

Which laser is right for you?

Erbium sits in the middle of the resurfacing range. CO2 laser resurfacing goes deeper, with 5 to 7 days of recovery. The mini laser peel is a non-ablative erbium treatment that leaves the surface intact, with a day or two of recovery. LaseMD Ultra targets pigment and tone, and an IPL photofacial handles redness and sun spots. The laser treatments page compares them side by side.

Who erbium laser resurfacing suits

Erbium suits you if:

  • You have fine lines, moderate wrinkles or acne scars that lighter treatments haven't moved
  • You want real resurfacing but can't give up a full week to recovery
  • Sun damage has left your skin rough or uneven

Your erbium laser appointment, step by step

  1. Consultation

Janeeh examines your lines, scars and skin tone, decides whether erbium or CO2 fits better, and sets the depth. She walks you through the healing days before you book.

  2. Treatment day

The treated area may feel numb or a little tender for a few hours afterward.

  3. Healing

Expect a few days of tenderness, then a peeling phase as new skin replaces the old. Cleanse the area several times a day and apply ointment as directed. Wear broad-spectrum SPF 50 or higher any time you're outside.

  4. Back to normal

Once healing is complete, the treated skin goes back into your regular skincare routine. Results keep improving as collagen builds.

“Thank you Janeeh for fixing my problematic skin. I always have large pores and acne scars and Janeeh recommended for me microneedling with erbium laser. Just 1 session gave me dramatic result. It is definitely worth it. I also like how she's not pushy on what kind of treatments you will need and products. She will only recommend what's necessary. I will definitely come here regularly for my skin needs. Thank you so much!”

Erbium laser resurfacing questions

What is recovery like after erbium laser resurfacing?

Recovery after erbium laser resurfacing starts with a few days of tenderness, followed by a peeling phase as new skin replaces the old. You cleanse the area several times a day and apply ointment as directed. Wear SPF 50 or higher outdoors. Erbium usually heals faster than CO2, with fewer side effects.

How soon will I see erbium laser results?

Erbium laser results start to show almost right away, and they keep improving as your skin heals and builds new collagen. Smoother texture is clearest once the peeling phase is over. Some concerns improve a lot in one session, while deeper scars can take more than one, depending on your skin.

Is erbium or CO2 better for acne scars?

Erbium and CO2 lasers both treat acne scars, and the better choice depends on how deep the scars are. CO2 goes deeper and does more for heavy scarring, with 5 to 7 days of recovery. Erbium suits milder scars and heals faster. Janeeh decides after looking at your scars and skin tone.

How long do erbium laser results last?

Erbium laser results can last for years, because the treatment replaces damaged skin with new skin and collagen. Your skin still ages and still meets the sun, so new damage can appear over time. Daily sunscreen protects the result, and some patients choose a lighter touch-up treatment later on.
