Botox in Benicia, CA

Botox softens forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet by relaxing the muscles that crease your skin. At Benicia Medical Aesthetics, Janeeh Miranda, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified nurse practitioner, plans every Botox treatment and is the practice's main injector. Results start within a few days and can last up to 4 months.

What Botox does, and what it will not do

Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), made by Allergan Aesthetics, is a purified neurotoxin. A small dose blocks the signal from a nerve to one muscle, so that muscle relaxes for a few months. The skin on top stops folding in the same crease every time you frown, squint or raise your brows, and the line softens.

Botox works on lines that come from movement. If a line shows when you frown and fades when your face is still, Botox is the right tool. Lines that stay at rest soften more slowly, over a few treatments, once the crease stops being folded all day.

The goal is a face that still moves. Janeeh doses so your frown softens and your brows still lift when you laugh. She starts conservative on a first visit, since a few more units at your follow-up is a quick fix and too much means waiting months for it to wear off.

Botox treatment areas

Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for four areas: forehead lines, frown lines, crow's feet and neck bands. The other areas below are common off-label uses. Janeeh tells you at your consultation which is which.

  • FDA-approved

    Forehead lines

The horizontal lines across your forehead, usually treated together with frown lines so your brows never feel heavy.

  • FDA-approved

    Frown lines (the 11s)

The two vertical lines between your brows that make you look cross when you are not.

  • FDA-approved

    Crow's feet

The fan of lines at the outer corners of your eyes when you smile.

  • FDA-approved since 2024

    Neck bands

The vertical cords at the front of the neck that blur the jawline.

  • Off-label

    Lip flip

A few units along the upper lip let it roll out slightly, so more of the lip shows when you smile. It adds no volume; that is what lip filler does.

  • Off-label

    Brow lift

Small doses relax the muscle that pulls the tail of your brow down, so it sits slightly higher.

  • Off-label

    Jawline and masseter

Relaxing the large chewing muscle at the back of the jaw can slim a square lower face over a few months.

  • Good candidates for Botox

    • Adults with lines that show when they frown, squint or raise their brows
    • People in their late 20s and 30s who want to slow early lines from deepening
    • Anyone who wants to look rested and still have a face that moves
    • Patients planning around an event. Book 2 to 3 weeks ahead so results are settled in time
  • When to wait or skip it

Botox is not for you if you have an infection where you would be injected, or an allergy to any botulinum toxin product. Tell Janeeh if you have a nerve or muscle condition such as myasthenia gravis, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you take blood thinners.

Your Botox appointment, step by step

  1. Consultation

Janeeh watches your face move, asks about your health history and any past treatments, and maps the areas worth treating. You get your total before anything starts.

  2. Treatment

She cleans the skin and places small injections with a very fine needle. Most patients describe a quick pinch. The treatment itself takes 10 to 20 minutes.

  3. Aftercare

You can go back to work or errands right away. Skip hard workouts for 24 hours. Mild redness or a small mark at an injection point fades quickly.

  4. Repeat visits

Most people book again every 3 to 4 months.

Botox vs Jeuveau vs Xeomin: which one is right for you?

All three are FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products that soften frown lines, and Janeeh uses all three. They differ in maker, formula and approved areas.

“I love this place!! I've been coming since they opened and have done facials, 3 sessions of micro-needling, Botox etc. The environment is really welcoming. I see Janeeh and she's very thoughtful and calculated with recommendations (versus churn and burn with other chain med spas) so I feel taken care of.”

Pricing

How Botox pricing works

Botox is priced per unit, so your total depends on how many units your treatment areas need. Stronger muscles take more units, which is why two people treating the same area can pay different amounts. Janeeh maps your areas at the consultation and gives you the total before treatment starts.

Botox questions patients ask us

How long does Botox last?

Botox lasts up to 4 months for most people, according to its manufacturer. How long your own result holds depends on your muscle strength, your metabolism, the area treated and your lifestyle. The muscle wakes up gradually, so most patients book a repeat Botox visit every 3 to 4 months to keep lines soft.

How soon will I see Botox results?

Botox results start to show in 1 to 2 days, and the full effect settles in by about 30 days. Lines soften gradually as the treated muscle relaxes. If you are planning around a wedding or a photo, book Botox at least 2 to 3 weeks before the date.

Does Botox hurt?

Botox feels like a few quick pinches, and the discomfort is brief. Janeeh uses a very fine needle, and some patients feel slight pressure or see mild redness where each injection went in. The whole Botox treatment takes 10 to 20 minutes, and you can go straight back to your day.

Will Botox make me look frozen?

Botox makes you look frozen only when the dose is too high for your face. Janeeh starts conservative on a first visit so your expressions stay natural, then checks your result and adds a few units if an area needs them. You should still be able to smile, frown slightly and raise your brows.
