Chemical peels in Benicia, CA

A chemical peel at our Benicia studio uses the Perfect Derma Peel, a medium-depth peel that lifts away dull surface layers to even out sun spots, melasma, acne marks and rough texture. Peeling runs about days 3 to 7, and results hold with 2 to 4 peels a year.

How the Perfect Derma Peel works

A chemical peel is an acid solution applied to your skin that loosens the outer layers so they shed over the next several days. The skin underneath is smoother and more even in tone. Light peels you can buy for home use barely reach past the surface. A medium-depth peel reaches further, which is why it can change pigment and texture in a way a facial cannot.

The Perfect Derma Peel blends trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, retinoic acid, kojic acid, phenol and vitamin C with glutathione, an antioxidant. TCA and phenol do the resurfacing. Kojic acid and glutathione target the pigment behind sun spots and melasma. Salicylic acid clears pores. The manufacturer requires a trained medical professional to apply it, and it is designed for a wide range of skin types, including darker skin tones that some deeper peels can mark.

Who a chemical peel suits

A chemical peel tends to suit you if:

  • You have sun spots, age spots, freckling or melasma you want to lighten
  • You have dull, rough or uneven skin
  • You have acne marks, or breakouts that leave dark spots behind
  • You can plan a week where visible peeling is fine

Your chemical peel, step by step

  1. Consultation

Janeeh reviews your skin, your history with peels and lasers, and what you are trying to change.

  2. The peel

Your skin is cleansed, then the peel solution goes on in layers. Expect warmth or tingling for a few minutes. Application takes under 15 minutes.

  3. The week after

Your skin looks close to normal for the first couple of days, then peels in thin layers from about day 3 until day 6 or 7. Let it shed on its own, and wear sunscreen.

  4. Follow-up

One peel leaves skin smoother and brighter. For melasma or breakouts, a series of 2 to 3 peels, one every 4 weeks, usually gets the best result.

Pricing

How chemical peel pricing works

The cost of a chemical peel depends on the peel used and whether you are booking one peel or a series. A series for melasma is planned as a whole, so you know the total at your consultation.

Memberships

The VIP membership is $149 a month, all of it treatment credit, and unused credit rolls over while your membership stays active.

Chemical peel questions

How long does peeling last after a chemical peel?

Peeling after the Perfect Derma Peel usually starts around day 3 and finishes by day 6 or 7. The skin sheds in thin layers, and your skin looks close to normal for the first couple of days. Let it shed on its own, keep it moisturized, and wear sunscreen every day.

How many chemical peels will I need?

One chemical peel leaves most skin smoother and brighter, and many patients stop there. For melasma or active breakouts, a series of 2 to 3 Perfect Derma Peels, spaced 4 weeks apart, usually gives the best result. To keep results up, most patients return for 2 to 4 peels a year.

Can a chemical peel help melasma?

A chemical peel can lighten the look of melasma, and the Perfect Derma Peel contains kojic acid and glutathione, which target pigment. Melasma often returns with sun and hormones, so peels work best as part of a longer plan with daily sunscreen and medical-grade skincare. Janeeh builds that plan at your consultation.

Is a chemical peel safe for darker skin?

The Perfect Derma Peel is made for a wide range of skin types, including darker skin tones. Darker skin can react to deep peels and aggressive lasers by darkening, so the choice of treatment matters. Janeeh reviews your skin type and history at the consultation before recommending a peel, a series, or something else.

What is the difference between a chemical peel and a laser peel?

A chemical peel uses an acid solution to shed the outer layers of skin, while a laser peel uses light energy to do similar work. A chemical peel means a week of visible peeling and no laser heat. A mini laser peel usually means a day or two of recovery. Your consultation settles which suits your skin.

Patients come to our Benicia studio from Vallejo, a short drive east on I-780, and from Martinez, across the Benicia-Martinez Bridge. A melasma series means a visit every 4 weeks, so a studio close to home makes it easier to stay on schedule.
