PRP under-eye treatment in Benicia, CA
PRP under-eye treatment uses platelet-rich plasma from your own blood to improve thin, crepey skin, fine lines and a tired look under the eyes. At Benicia Medical Aesthetics, Janeeh Miranda, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified nurse practitioner, performs every treatment. Results build slowly over 3 to 12 months, and they vary from person to person.

What PRP under-eye treatment does, and what it will not do
Platelet-rich plasma is a concentrate made from a small sample of your own blood. The sample is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, which carry growth factors, from the rest of the blood. Janeeh then injects the PRP into the thin skin under your eyes with a very fine needle.
The growth factors in PRP are thought to prompt the skin to make new collagen. Under the eyes, where skin is thinnest, that can mean smoother texture, softer fine lines and skin that looks less crepey. Some patients also see the area look brighter, because thicker skin shows less of the shadow underneath. Results vary, and the change is gradual.
Because PRP comes from your own blood, the treatment adds nothing synthetic, which is why some patients choose it over filler. It also takes patience. You are waiting for your skin to rebuild, which takes months and a series of sessions.
Is PRP under-eye treatment FDA-approved?
No. PRP systems are FDA-cleared devices for preparing PRP, mainly for use with bone grafts in orthopedic surgery. Injecting PRP under the eyes is an off-label use. It is legal, widely practiced and made from your own blood, but the research is still growing, and results vary.

Your PRP under-eye appointment, step by step
Consultation
Janeeh looks at the skin under your eyes in good light and works out whether thin skin, hollowness or puffiness is behind the tired look. If PRP is not the right tool, you will hear that first.
Blood draw and preparation
A small sample is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma.
Numbing and treatment
A topical numbing cream goes on under your eyes. Janeeh then places the PRP with very fine needles. Most patients feel a slight pinch or sting that passes quickly.
Aftercare
Mild redness, swelling or tenderness usually settles within a few hours to a day. Skip heavy makeup under the eyes for 48 hours. Most patients go straight back to their day.
The series
The practice recommends a series of four treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, then one or two maintenance sessions a year.
“I would highly recommend Janeeh for your medical aesthetic needs. She was very knowledgeable and it showed that she really enjoyed her craft.. She took her time and explained everything while not trying to pressure me into purchasing things that I did not need. Janeeh had a beautiful personality and wasn't judgmental during the session”

Does PRP under-eye treatment work?
PRP under-eye treatment can improve thin, crepey skin and fine lines for many patients, but results vary and nothing is guaranteed. PRP is thought to prompt new collagen, so change comes slowly, over 3 to 12 months. It works best on thinning skin and does little for deep hollows or puffy bags.
Are PRP under-eye injections painful?
PRP under-eye injections are generally well tolerated. A topical numbing cream goes on first, and the needles are very fine. Most patients feel a slight pinch or sting during the injections, which passes quickly. Mild tenderness or swelling afterward usually settles within a few hours to a day.
How soon will I see results from PRP under the eyes?
PRP under-eye results start to show within the first few weeks as subtle changes in texture. More visible improvement usually appears around 3 to 6 months after the first treatment. The full result from a PRP under-eye series typically shows at 6 to 12 months, as the skin rebuilds collagen.
How many PRP under-eye sessions will I need?
Most patients need a series of four PRP under-eye treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. After the first series, one or two maintenance sessions a year help keep the results. Janeeh adjusts the plan at your consultation based on your skin and how it responds to the first sessions.
