Laser treatments in Benicia, CA
Laser treatments at our Benicia studio range from a gentle laser you can fit into a lunch break to deep CO2 resurfacing that needs a week at home. Janeeh Miranda, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified nurse practitioner, plans every treatment and matches the laser to your skin, your goal and the time you can take off.

Laser treatmentsEight treatmentsHow the lasers at our Benicia studio differ
Most lasers work the same basic way. Light of one wavelength heats one target in the skin, and your body repairs what was heated. What changes from laser to laser is the target and the depth, and those two things decide your result and your recovery.
Resurfacing lasers remove or heat the outer layers of skin to build new collagen. The deeper they go, the more they change, and the longer you heal.
- CO2 laser resurfacing goes deepest. It is the one for acne scars, etched lines and years of sun damage, and it needs 5 to 7 days of recovery.
- Erbium laser resurfacing is also ablative, so it removes the surface of the skin, but it heals faster with fewer side effects.
- A mini laser peel is a non-ablative fractional erbium treatment. It leaves the surface intact and most people are back to normal within a day or two.
- LaseMD Ultra works in the very top layer on pigment, tone and glow. You go back to your day the same day, with a few days of dryness or light flaking.
Light and targeted lasers go after one specific thing and leave the rest of the skin alone.
- An IPL photofacial uses pulses of broad light to fade redness, broken capillaries and sun spots.
- Laser hair removal heats the pigment in the hair follicle to slow regrowth.
- Laser tattoo removal breaks ink into particles your body clears over the weeks after each session.
- Spider vein removal heats the blood inside small surface veins so they fade, in a session of about 20 minutes.
How to choose the right laser
Start with the one thing that bothers you most. Brown spots and dullness point one way, deep scars another, and redness a third. Most people who try to fix everything at once end up with a plan that is heavy on recovery and light on results.
Then be honest about your calendar. A week of peeling after CO2 is easy to plan in January and hard to plan the week before a wedding. If you need to look normal on Monday, a lighter laser in a short series usually gets you further than one deep treatment squeezed in at the wrong time.
Skin tone matters as much as the concern. Deeper skin tones can darken after heat, so the safest laser for your skin may not be the strongest one on the menu. Having several devices in one studio means we pick the one that fits you, rather than the one we happen to own.
Your consultation settles it. Janeeh looks at your skin, asks about your history and your sun habits, and tells you which laser she would choose, how many sessions to expect and what recovery looks like. If a laser won't help, you'll hear that before you've spent anything.

What laser patients say
“I have treated melasma with other medical aesthetic providers for 5 years with some improvement. I started treatments with Janeeh March of 2024, and with her guidance I have seen the more progress in 6 months than I have in 5 years. Her suggestions are perfectly calculated for my complex Latin skin. The recommendations are result driven, and that's hard to find in other medical spas. Can't wait to explore more treatments!”
Laser treatment questions
Which laser treatment is best for acne scars?
CO2 laser resurfacing is usually the strongest laser for acne scars, because it removes damaged surface skin and rebuilds collagen underneath. Erbium laser resurfacing treats milder scarring with a faster heal. Deeper skin tones may do better with a gentler approach. Janeeh chooses the laser after examining your scars and your skin tone.
Which laser treatment has the least downtime?
LaseMD Ultra has the least downtime of our resurfacing lasers. Most patients go back to their day the same day, with a few days of redness, dryness or light flaking. An IPL photofacial is similar, with pinkness for a few hours. CO2 laser resurfacing sits at the other end, with 5 to 7 days of recovery.
Can laser treatments be used on darker skin?
Many laser treatments can be used on darker skin when the laser and settings are chosen for your skin tone. Deeper skin tones can darken after heat, so some lasers carry more risk than others. Janeeh checks your skin type at the consultation and picks the laser, the settings and the pace that fit your skin.
