Why we start with a skin analysis
Most people arrive with a treatment already in mind. Often it is the right one. Just as often, the thing that bothers you in the mirror has a cause the mirror can't show you, and the treatment you saw online is aimed at a different problem.
Take "uneven skin." Brown spots from sun exposure, redness from broken capillaries, and rough texture from old acne scars can all read as uneven. They answer to different tools. An IPL photofacial goes after redness and sun spots. A LaseMD Ultra treatment works on pigment and dull tone. Pixel8 RF microneedling and CO2 resurfacing work on texture and scarring, at very different levels of recovery. Pick the wrong one and you pay for a treatment that does its job well on a problem you don't have.
An Aura skin analysis puts a record in front of both of you. Janeeh looks at the scan, examines your skin, asks what you have tried, and tells you what she would treat first, what can wait, and what isn't worth doing at all. That last part matters. Patients say it about her in their own words:
“She will only recommend what's necessary.”
Who should book a skin analysis first
A skin analysis earns its place if any of these sound like you:
- You're new to medical aesthetics and want to know what's worth doing before you spend anything.
- You have more than one concern, like spots, lines and loose skin, and don't know which to treat first.
- You've tried treatments or products elsewhere without the change you wanted.
- You're planning a laser series or resurfacing, and want a clear starting point to compare against later.
- You'd like a plan for the year. The analysis maps out treatments in order over the months ahead.
Who can skip it. If you already know you want Botox for your frown lines, or you're coming back for a treatment you've had here before, book a consultation directly. The skin analysis is for deciding, and you've already decided.

A short health history
We ask about your skin concerns, your skincare routine, any medications, and what you've had done before. Some treatments aren't safe with certain medications or skin conditions, and this is where that surfaces.
The results, explained
Janeeh goes through what the scan found, area by area, and examines your skin in person. Ask anything. There is no sales consultant in the room.
From your scan to a treatment plan
The scan doesn't pick your treatment. Janeeh does, using what it shows. These are the treatments a plan usually draws from, by concern:
| If your main concern is | Your plan may start with |
|---|---|
| Sun spots and uneven tone | IPL photofacial or LaseMD Ultra |
| Redness and broken capillaries | IPL photofacial |
| Fine lines and dull texture | Mini laser peel or chemical peels |
| Deeper wrinkles and rough texture | Erbium laser or CO2 laser resurfacing |
| Acne scars and large pores | Pixel8 RF microneedling or microneedling with PRP |
| Loose skin on the jawline or neck | XERF skin tightening |
| Expression lines on the forehead and around the eyes | Botox |
Most plans combine two or three of these over several months. The order matters: some treatments prepare the skin for the next one, and some shouldn't be done close together.

What your plan will cost
We give you the cost of every treatment in your plan before anything is booked, so there are no surprises at checkout. What sets the cost is the treatment, the size of the area, and how many sessions your skin needs.
If your plan includes regular laser, energy or skincare treatments, a VIP membership turns $149 a month into treatment credit, takes 15% off laser and energy treatments, and rolls unused credit over while you stay a member.
Questions about the Aura skin analysis
Do I need a skin analysis before a laser treatment?
You don't always need a skin analysis before a laser treatment, but it helps when you're choosing between lasers. CO2, erbium, the mini laser peel and LaseMD Ultra treat different depths with very different recovery times. The scan and an exam show which depth your skin needs, so you only book the recovery you need.
Is a skin analysis the same as a consultation?
A skin analysis is a consultation with a scan added. You still talk through your goals and health history with a nurse practitioner, and the scan gives you both a record of your skin to plan from. If you already know which treatment you want, a standard consultation is enough.
Can men book an Aura skin analysis?
Yes, men book the Aura skin analysis too. Sun damage, texture and loose skin on the jawline show up on every face, and Janeeh treats both men and women at the Benicia studio. The scan works the same way, and your plan is built around your skin and how much downtime your schedule allows.
