Skin & bodyEight treatmentsSkin and body treatments, planned by a nurse practitioner
Skin tightening and body contouring cover the treatments that change how your skin and shape look without an incision: radiofrequency devices that firm loose skin, microneedling that rebuilds texture, peels that even out tone, contouring that works on fat and muscle, and injectable treatments that use your own plasma or a collagen stimulator.
At Benicia Medical Aesthetics, Janeeh Miranda, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified nurse practitioner, leads every treatment plan, and Sundar Natajaran, M.D., oversees the protocols behind them. That matters most in this category, because the treatments overlap. Three of them use radiofrequency. Three involve microneedling. Two use PRP. Picking the wrong one is the most common way people spend money on a treatment that was never going to fix their problem.
Most of these treatments work the same way underneath. They cause a small, controlled injury or a burst of heat, and your skin answers by building collagen over the following weeks. So results arrive gradually, and most treatments work best as a short series.
How to choose the right treatment
Start with the problem you want to fix. Here is how the eight treatments split:
| If your main concern is | Start with | How it works | Needles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loose skin on the jawline, neck or body | XERF skin tightening | Radiofrequency heat through the skin's surface | No |
| Acne scars, large pores, stretch marks | Pixel8 RF microneedling | Radiofrequency delivered through fine needles | Yes |
| Fine lines, dullness, mild texture | Microneedling with PRP | Microneedling, then your own plasma on the skin | Yes |
| Microneedling, finished with exosomes | Exosome facial | Microneedling, then a topical exosome product | Yes |
| Sun spots, melasma, uneven tone | Chemical peel | A medium-depth peel that sheds the outer layers | No |
| Stubborn fat, loose skin, muscle tone on the body | Evolve body contouring | Radiofrequency plus muscle stimulation | No |
| Shape and skin texture on the buttocks | Radiesse butt lift | Collagen-stimulating injectable (off-label use) | Injections |
| Early thinning hair | PRP hair restoration | Your own plasma injected into the scalp (off-label use) | Injections |
XERF, Pixel8 or Evolve?
All three use radiofrequency, but each puts it to different work. XERF heats through the surface with no needles and is aimed at firmness on the face, neck and body. Pixel8 sends the heat through fine needles, so it is the one for scars and texture, with a little more recovery. Evolve treats larger body areas at once and adds fat reduction and muscle toning. If your concern is looseness alone, XERF usually comes first. If you are near your goal weight and want a stubborn area to change, Evolve does more.
Which microneedling?
Pixel8 RF microneedling goes deepest and suits acne scars and pores. Microneedling with PRP works closer to the surface, for fine lines and dullness, and uses plasma from your own blood. The exosome facial uses the same microneedling with a manufactured topical product instead of PRP. There are no FDA-approved exosome products, and Janeeh will walk you through what the evidence shows before you choose it.
Where these treatments stop
None of these treatments replace surgery for heavy, hanging skin, and none of them is a weight loss treatment. If you have more weight to lose, our medical weight loss program comes first, and it already includes body contouring. If your skin sits well below the jawline, Janeeh will tell you a surgeon will get you further.

Skin tightening and body contouring questions
Which skin tightening treatment is right for me?
The right skin tightening treatment depends on your main concern. XERF suits loose skin on the jawline, neck and body with little downtime. Pixel8 RF microneedling suits acne scars and texture. Evolve suits body areas where fat and muscle tone matter too. A nurse practitioner examines your skin at the consultation and recommends one.
Can I combine skin tightening and body treatments?
Yes, many patients combine skin and body treatments over a season, because each one works on a different layer. XERF firms loose skin, Pixel8 refines texture, and peels even out tone. Janeeh plans the order and spacing so that treatments do not overlap in recovery, and she tells you when one treatment is enough.
How long do skin tightening results take to show?
Skin tightening results usually build gradually, because most of these treatments work by prompting your skin to make new collagen. Some patients notice a subtle change after the first session. Most treatments work best as a short series, and your provider sets the number at your consultation.
Is there downtime with skin tightening and body treatments?
Downtime depends on the treatment. XERF and Evolve body contouring have little downtime, and most people go back to their day right after. Microneedling treatments usually mean a day or a few of redness. A chemical peel means visible peeling from about day 3 to day 7. Your provider plans around your calendar.
Not sure which one? Start with a consultation.
Tell Janeeh what bothers you, and she will match it to the treatment that fits, or tell you honestly that none of these will.
